Real life teen dilemmas written as comedy. These thirty short plays
give teenage performers a chance to portray the drama of their
everyday lives. They may act crazy, push boundaries and discover
themselves as the plays permit them to show off their talents. The
actors can create outrageous characters in the context of
situations they know so well. Sample titles include: "The Kissing
Booth", "Four Boyfriends", "Last Free Summer" and "The Babysitter".
Inexperienced actors will come alive as performers because they
playlets offer natural dialog and believable situations. The plays
are for two to six actors. It is excellent for contest use.
These scenes take place in the confines of school and are easily
staged. The incredibly believable teen characters are daring,
outlandish, uninhibited and creative as they deal with situations
exaggerated by their own attitudes, perceptions and actions. The
scenes focus on subjects they know very well - dating, appearances,
egos, fads, crushes, breaking rules, broken hearts, failing grades,
embarrassing moments and much more. These are realistic scenes that
help the teen audience and performers laugh at themselves. They are
perfect for classroom practice or an evening of entertainment.

When Sophia dreams that howling winds whisk the fur and feathers
right off her animal friends, she shares some of her clothes with
them. But her clothing doesn't work well for the animals. Seeing
their disappointment, she offers to sew each one the "right" coat.
Animals line up to explain what they need and why. Polar Bear needs
white fur to stay warm and hide in the snow. Fish needs scales, but
with slime. Snake needs scales too, but dry ones. And how will
Sophia make a prickly coat for Porcupine? The award-winning team of
Halfmann and Klein (Little Skink's Tail) reunite to bring animal
coverings (and classification) to life in an imaginative way.
Sophia's friends include Duck, Fish, Frog, Ladybug, Polar Bear,
Porcupine, Snail, and Snake. The For Creative Minds educational
section includes: Scientific Classification, Skin Coverings, and
Animal Classification. Additional Teaching Activities and
Interactive Quizzes are available on the Sylvan Dell Publishing
website.
